2020 Writing Wrap Up
Jan. 5th, 2021 04:59 pmAnd I forgot to do this for the last part of the year! So here's one for the last few months plus my year end stats.
In October, I finished my KBB projects, wrote a bit for Huxloween, started my rare pairs exchange fics, and prepped for NaNoWriMo. For Huxloween, I wrote Love Magic and Nocturnal Life. I also wrote for a new pairing, Din Djarin/Cobb Vanth (or Marshalorian as I call it). That fic is here. My word total for October was 34,509.
November I was mostly working on NaNoWriMo, which was a rewrite of the sequel trilogy. I got to about the halfway point of 9. I hope to post these some day, but they're very rough at the moment and will need lots of editing. And as I haven't worked on it much since November, who knows when they'll be done. I also worked on some rare pairs stuff and KBB edits. And wrote this lovely bit of crack - Stuffed by a Giant Rainbow Turkey. Because I needed to write Kylo punching Brendol again. November was my best month in terms of word count with 80,143 words! I actually hit the 50k for nano in 10 days, which is a new record for me!
December was light on the writing but this was the month I finally got to post my KBB fic and rare pairs exchange fics! I did write 22,545 words though. I wrote three fics for the rare pairs exchange: Take a Chance on Us (Mitaka/Knights of Ren), Sharpened Killing Steel (Snoke/Kylo/Hux, Kylo/Hux/Knigts of Ren, rape, major character death) and See the Sky Turn Bright (Armitage Hux's mom/Maratelle Hux).
I'd written two fics for the KBB, although only one got posted. My partner for the other ghosted, although the fic is done and I will probably post it eventually. To Follow the Stars is a kylux sleeping beauty AU, with Armitage as the sleeping prince and Kylo as his true love. I absolutely loved writing this and the art is amazing!
The other KBB fic is a emperor/hound AU where Pryde has kidnapped Hux and is trying to take his empire from him, with lots of unrequited feelings between Hux and Kylo, who are married, but for political reasons. I really like this fic and am a little sad that it's just sitting in my google docs, but I may post it for emperor/hound week for Year of Kylux.
I participated in the kylux secret santa and wrote a modern au holiday fic - Holiday Traditions. And then I wrote a Poe/Finn/Rey fic too - Rey Skywalker the Kitchen Monster. The last thing I wrote was for Year of Kylux with the first meeting prompt - Not Exactly Love at First Sight.
My total words written for 2020 was 472,767 which is well over my goal of 350k! I was pretty confident that I could hit the 350k but I didn't think I'd hit more than 400k! I was tempted to go to the next highest tier for Get Your Words Out which is 500k. I think I could hit that, but I also want to take it easy this year, so instead, I went down so my 2021 goal is 200k or 250k. I forget the exact amount, but it'll be nice to slack for a bit. On another note, I wrote every single day in 2020! Sometimes it was just one word, but after writing a little something for the first two months, I got carried away and wanted to do it for every day of the year.
My plans for 2021 include writing at least one fic for every month for Year of Kylux. Hopefully, I can make some progress on my ever growing to-write list without adding too much more. I also really want to write some original fic this year, even if it's just for NaNoWriMo. I'm thinking about not participating in so many events too, mostly because NaNoWriMo, KBB, Kylux secret santa, and SW Rare Pairs all happen right on top of each other. Problem is that I love all those so I don't know how to pick one to not do. But guess I'll see how shit goes?
I know I said this last year and nothing much came from it, but I want to draw more this year. Although I didn't draw nearly as much as I wanted in 2020, I feel like I did do some okayish art? So I really feel like I should stick with it and maybe it'll actually be decent someday.
